Meet Our Staff

A native of the New England area, Sharon Rose moved to Missouri to be near her family in 1988. Originally a cardiac and trauma nurse, she was able to realize a lifelong dream of retiring from the nursing profession in 1999 in order to teach and train horses and students as a full time profession. As a highly successful  riding instructor and trainer, she has spent over thirty years studying, learning and managing the business of equestrian care, barn operations, show competition and clinic administration. While she prefers to teach the combined three-day event, Sharon is well versed in all of the English and Western riding disciplines. She offers individual as well as small group riding lessons to students of all ages and abilities. She has a limited number of schooling horses available but welcomes students who provide their own mounts as well. As a former nurse, Sharon is certified in first aid and stresses safety, for horse and rider, in all aspects of training and riding. For more information, call Sharon at 573-268-4366 or 573-491-3009.

Owner of Greystone and a Texan by birth, Kathryn Tanner always wanted to have a horse and a ranch of her own. After moving to Missouri, her childhood dream was finally realized in October of 2000 when she acquired a retired motion picture horse. She has been actively pursuing her love of all things equine ever since. In July of 2005, Kathryn purchased 360 acres of beautiful Missouri countryside just north of Jefferson City and together with her best friend, Sharon, founded Greystone Equestrian Center, LLC. Their plans for Greystone include continuing to expand the current facilities with the future goal of being the premier boarding and training facility in the mid-Missouri area. Shows, clinics, day camps, trail rides and many other events are in the works so come out and see us!
